WHAT ARE SEALANTS?
Dental sealants prevent tooth decay and are a thin coating that is applied on the surface of the tooth in its liquid form. They bond to the surface creating a protective layer on the enamel of the teeth. Sealants can last for a long time, up to 10 years, but have to be periodically checked by the dentist.
WHY SHOULD I HAVE MY TEETH CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY TWICE A YEAR?
Even if you regularly brush and floss your teeth, tarter and stains can still develop. Dental hygienists can access harder to reach surfaces. They also have specialized instruments that can gently remove those deposits without harming the surface of your teeth. In the long run this helps prevent periodontal disease progression.
WHAT ARE TMJ DISORDERS?
TMJ disorders are disorders related to your temporomandibular joint (the one that connects your jawbone to your skull.) You can experience pain and discomfort in the joint itself, but also seemingly unrelated muscle and facial pains or difficulty chewing.
